What you still haven't understood is that it's much less pain to switch from FontLab 5 to Glyphs, than from FontLab 5 to FontLab 6, even though this news has been out for at least 3 years.
There are countless users that would rather pay for small upgrades to FontLab Studio 5, than for a big upgrade to FontLab 6. Will that ever happen, or are we supposed to switch? After much discussion and thought, we have decided we are not planning any further updates to FontLab Studio 5. FontLab Studio 5 is a complex and mature application that will continue to work in the supported operating systems (macOS 10.6.8 to 10.12 Sierra, Windows XP SP2+ to Windows 10). However, maintaining FontLab Studio 5 compatibility with newer operating systems has been increasingly hard, and we cannot guarantee that the app will work fine on new OSes. We developed FontLab VI as a future-proof replacement for FontLab Studio 5, and we’re on track to make FontLab VI the best font editor we’ve ever made.
